New Coaches
We are always looking for new coaches. Being able to work as part of a team, work with children, have a bit of knowledge about the game and above all, have patience is all it takes!
Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there are going to be some changes with our coach:player ratio, so the extra help will be appreciated even more than usual, to enable us, as a club, to continue providing the football experience to children of all ages and abilities. Our age groups start at under 6s (players must either be in school year 1, OR, have already had their 5th birthday) and run all the way up to under 16, from where players can continue to play by joining our senior teams.
EVERY coach participating in Junior Football MUST have a valid DBS (which is done through the club), a valid FAW number, plus, attend a minimum of a Football Leaders course @ £85, which is payable by the candidate, then refunded by the club on submission of the certificate received after completing the course. It is also preferable that all coaches hold a valid FAW First Aid qualification @ £40, on the same payment basis as the Leaders Award. Please see the link below for the FAW coaching courses.
FAW Football Leaders course is currently being run as an online course, due to COVID-19 social distancing rules, so there is no need to currently attend a venue for this course at present, it can all be done from the comfort of your own home! BUT, please contact our Junior Section Secretary BEFORE paying for the course, to ensure the age group you would like to help out at has not already been allocated the required number of coaches:player ratios. If, on the other hand, you do not mind which age group you help out with, even better!
As a coach at Aberaeron FC, we would like for you to attend 1 training session a week with your age group, plus, meet your team at the relevant venue on Saturday mornings for matches. We appreciate that work and family commitments don't always allow for this, but consistency is key for children's development, so being there for your players as much as possible is all we ask.
For further information please visie the FAW Courses website.
Existing Coaches
Thank you for continuing to be a Coach with the Club, we very much appreciate it. Your time and commitment that you give don't go un-noticed!
The Club's aim has always been to encourage and support players throughout their age groups, no matter what their abilities. We are looking at new ways of combining the older age groups ways of training with the senior ways - this change is hoped to ensures a smooth transition from junior to senior level, along with introducing older junior players to the senior players who they will hopefully play alongside at senior level. We are also hoping to further the interaction between junior and senior players, by encouraging the senior players to help with a coaching role, starting season 2020/21.
