Aberaeron Reserves 2 (Harry Holder & Rhodri Jones)

Bont 3 (Own goal, Garin Evans & Steffan Huxtable)

The Reserves team first friendly of the year saw them face Bont on an extremely windy day down by the seafront. Aberaeron started well by keeping a good share of possession and moving the ball well on the floor but lacked many chances on goal. Bont then scored against the run of play by a tricky corner in the wind that was turned in by one of Aberaeron’s own players. Aberaeron’s possession then started to pay off with more chances on goal, Harry Holder eventually converting one of the chances to put the sides level going into half time.

Aberaeron made a string of changes at half time with manager Rhydian ‘Brynnog’ Davies wanting to give all 19 players who turned up at least 45 minutes of football. This however didn’t seem to initially effect the teams flow with Rhodri Jones scoring soon after the start of the second half. Bont were revitalised after going 2-1 down and, with the wind on their side, were the better team after conceding. Two quick fire goals from Garin Evans and Steffan Huxtable regained Bont’s lead with Aberaeron unable to reply.

Despite losing, Aberaeron Reserves will take many positives away from their first game back in difficult conditions, with all players getting at least 45 minutes under their belt.

The Reserve team next face Felinfach Reserves away on Friday 2nd of July.
